Description: I want to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. The Dicker Max (Thick Max) was a prototype mobile artillery piece to help smash fixed defenses (like the Maginot Line) but arrived too late to serve that purpose. The only two examples built saw combat on the Eastern Front in 1941 with one being destroyed and the other withdrawn. Using the Panzer IV chassis gave it a reliability leg-up but this unique vehicle never went into production. These kits seem to be easy to find on eBay from sellers around the world, but I am a Top Rated Plus US Seller who has this in stock and can reliably ship this item very quickly. Here is what I found about this wonderful kit around the web: The trumpeter-china.com site has five amazing photos of a finished model and about a dozen photos of the sprues, instruction and decals, along with the following brief blurb on the two-of-a-kind Dicker Max (I cleaned up the text a little): In their fiscal year 1938 report, Krupp revealed they had started on the design of a 105 mm K L/52 Selbstfahrlafette. The machine was famous as “Dicker Max”. It was armed with the 105mm K 18 L/52 Krupp. The gun was equipped with a muzzle brake with double-deflector. This weapon could penetrate 111 mm of shielding under a vertical angle of 30 degrees to 2000 meters. This Panzerjager was slightly armored (10-50 mm), and the superstructure was open. The engine was the standard 12 cylinders (gasoline) Maybach HL 120 ensuring on road a maximum speed of 40km/h. During first months of the “Barbarossa” operation in Russia, two were assigned with the Abt.521. One was destroyed in the battle and the other one was lost in 1941. The two prototypes were very effective however, countering all the models put into combat by the Russians at that time. Scalemates.com has a listing showing this is a new tool from 2007. He spent most of the review comparing this kit with Dragon’s version. Each has its advantages, so it comes down to personal preference. We get photos of the kit contents and he ended the review with: “If Trumpeter can engineer models this nice based upon a couple of prototypes, imagine what they might be doing with this Panzer IV tooling in the future!” Frido Kip presents a fascinating In-Box Review on the Dutch-language ipms.nl site. He starts with a detailed history of the development and operational record of the two units. Next we get highlights of the kit and construction steps. He was impressed with the quality and accuracy, concluding with: “All in all a very extensive and beautifully detailed model of an unusual vehicle, for which all praise. Straight out of the box, a beautiful model can be made of it. Once again Trumpeter knows how to give a lot of value for a remarkably advantageous price.” Andreas Wichmann did a quick Preview on the German-language rommelkiste.de site with a half-dozen photos of the parts. The author was particularly impressed with the completeness and accuracy of the interior details. In the end, his Conclusion was: “An all-round successful kit, which certainly brings a lot of crafting fun and is still affordable! Suitable for beginners as well as for semi-professional model builders!” For those who prefer video media, Outback Mini Models did a very long (almost 22 minutes) Unboxing Video on YouTube that pulls everything out of the box. This kit is in a sturdy 16” x 10” x 3” box with dramatic box art. As you can see from the pictures, the package is a little shelf-worn and still sealed with the original tape strips, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely build-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with over 630 grey plastic parts, a fret of photo etched metal parts and the option for one-piece vinyl tracks or individual link tracks along with a nifty twisted copper tow cable and a small decal sheet.
