Description: Original 1891-1892 San Antonio, Texas, sepia cabinet card photo of a of a dandy, sporting man, or gambler (or all three) with long, curly hair down his back, cowboy hat, boots, cane, and a gold watch chain with what looks to be a large gold nugget attached. Found in McKaughan family photo album at estate sale in San Antonio. This balding dude is posing in this studio photo with his dog sitting on a fake tree stump. Great Old West image taken by Paris & Rothwell at their 11 & 13 W. Commerce Street location in San Antonio. They were at this address between 1891 and 1892 before moving to 107 W. Commerce. While this dude bears a passing resemblance to Ft. Worth, Texas, gunman and Deputy Sheriff Timothy “Longhair Jim” Courtright, the latter was killed in Ft. Worth by gambler and gunman Luke Short in February 1887. Very good, nice clean, crisp image, small stain on “Paris” on the bottom margin of the card, does not impact image. NO LOCAL PICKUPS.
