Williams worked for the Poetry Center at the 92nd Street YMCA, a celebrated if unexpected literary venue. *** This small archive consists of 1) a 4-page autograph letter signed (5 by 8 inches); 2) a one-page letter (5-3/4 by 9 inches), sent from the Poetry Office of the Library of Congress and referring to Bill Smith, probably William Jay Smith, the Poet Laureate of the United States; and 3) a one-page typed letter signed with a holograph postscript (8-1/4 by 13-1/4 inches). *** The typed letter is dated 12 May 1967.
