Description: Pair Of Antique Cast Iron Bookends, made by the Judd Mfg. Co of Bridgeport CT. Circa 1920, They feature a Scholar, wearing knickers, ribbed stockings and square-toe shoes with buckles. He is sitting in what might be the archway of a library and reading one of those over-sized tomes of a bygone era. Random books are stacked on either side adding to the illusion of a library. The scholar and the books have a contrasting “bronzed” tint to them. The number 9741 is also impressed in the back of the metal. The bookends measure: Base - 6 ¾” wide x 1¾” deep. They are 5¾” tall. Manufactured in the early 1900’s. The Judd Company made these types of bookends between 1910 and the late 1930’s.
