Description: This original drypoint engraving of Leo Tolstoy is printed on archival paper in a limited edition of one hundred impressions. This being numbered 65. It is numbered LL and signed in pencil LR by the artist. The frame has many knicks and the wove matte has a damp stain on bottom. However, the engraving is in excellent condition. Measures 22” H x 17” W while the engraving measures 17” H x 12.5” W. Not inspected out of the frame. Aubrey Schwartz (1928 - 2019) was a well respected American expressionist etcher and engraver. He studied printmaking techniques at the Art Students League of New York and at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. His etchings, aquatints and drypoints have been exhibited at a major institutions such as Whitney Museum of American Art and the Guggenheim Museum. He was also the recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in Creative Printmaking. Twenty-four of his original prints are included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
