Description: This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features an Arthur S. Burnell patent, date June 19, 1887. This wire is called "Burnell's All Aluminum with Hooked Four Point Barbs & Grooved Barbs). " by collectors. (ref. Hagemeier 1193-B) (Hagemeier does not show the grooved barbing wire.) This wire features two round line wires, twisted together. Line wires and barbing wires are all solid aluminum. Barbs are four pointed made by inserting the points of two barbing wires across each other between the lines, and hooking these two ends together. Remainder of two wires are wrapped together around both line wires. One of the barbing wires is grooved on one side. Sample shows loss of luster and is not stiff. Sample is 18" in length. Sample has fourvbarbs well spaced, and cut is well centered. There is some bending of points, but no broken or missing barbs. We have listed other antique barbed wire samples, and will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice. Additional wires ship for fifty cents each. Please use the "Add to Cart" option next to the buy it now button. I will refund any excessive shipping charges.
