HUGE antique EAPG open COMPOTE clear MINNESOTA 15055 U.S. GLASS 1898

Description: Offered for sale is a LARGE and lovely antique open compote, made by the U.S. Glass Co. of Pittsburgh, PA, U.S.A. The pattern is MINNESOTA, which was U.S. Glass pattern no. 15055, and was part of their States series. The glass gives off a faint apple-green glow under UV / black light. The bowl and stem were made as two separate parts, which were joined with a molten glass wafer (picture 4). The Minnesota pattern was introduced in 1898. The compote measures 10 inches (25.4cm) in diameter at the rim, and stands 8 inches (20.3cm) tall. The foot measures 5 1/4 inches (13.3cm) in diameter. A U.S. quarter is shown in the third picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance. The compote is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, or repairs. There is no cloudiness or discoloration in the glass. There is one minor manufacturing defect on the rim. The glass didn't quite fill the mold when it was made, resulting in an irregularity in the scalloped rim (pictures 5 and 6). All my items are from a SMOKE FREE home.
