Wehrle is an American former professional football cornerback who played for his entire 14 year career with the St. Louis Cardinals of the National Football League from 1969 to 1982. He was a 5-time First-team All-Pro in 1970 and from 1974 to 1977, a Second-team All-Pro in 1971, a 7-time Pro Bowl in 1970, 1971, 1974-1977, and 1979. Wehrle earned the Arizona Cardinals Ring of Honor and was part of the NFL 1970's All-Decade Team, a Unanimous All-American in 1968, a 2-time First-team All-Big Eight in 1967 and 1968, and his Number 23 of the Missouri Tigers was retired.
