Description: This is a rare September 27th, 1928 program (playbill) from the three-night, National Tour engagement of the JOHN COLTON Melodrama of the Orient "THE SHANGHAI GESTURE" at the Court Square Theatre in Springfield, Massachusetts. (The Original Broadway production opened February 1st, 1926 at New York's Martin Beck Theatre and transferred in July 1926 to the Sam S. Shubert Theatre where it closed for a summer hiatus on July 31st, 1926 after 206 performances. The production returned on September 6th, 1926 to Chanin's 46th Street Theatre for an additional 121 performances before going on the road.) .....
