During his time in South Vietnam, Freund performed duties as Deputy Senior Corps Advisor, Director of Training for MACV (Military Assistance Command Vietnam) Assistant Director of the Joint United States Public Affairs Office (JUSPAO), and Special Assistant to General William Westmoreland.
