Description: Title: New York, Manhattan Island from the south Artist/Publisher: J. W. Williams/Root & Tinker, The Clothier & Hatter Date: 1879 Map type: Reproduction from Original Hand Colored Lithograph Print Size: 23.5” x 31.75” (vertical) Description: This is one of my favorite birdseye view maps of Manhattan, lots of color and was used as an advertisement for Root & Tinker Clothier and Hatter. Several notable locations highlighted in the index including Battery Park, Bowling Green, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Central Park and Fulton Ferry, Brooklyn. This map is very similar to another we offer, a horizontal view published by Rogers & Peet, also for advertising. Antique panoramic maps are often not drawn to scale but provide a fascinating glimpse into the history of towns and cities. Our giclee prints and maps are faithfully reproduced from high-resolution digital scans of the original. Maps and prints are digitally repaired as needed but maintain the original age toning and antique nature that makes them wonderful decorative art as well as historical references. This fine art Giclee reproduction map is produced on heavyweight, matte finish, archival paper using the finest pigment inks offering excellent color and light-fastness ratings of up to 100 years. Maps are enlarged or reduced from the original size, we do not distort or resized the image; therefore, most prints are not exact standard sizes. Larger sizes are shipped rolled in tubes. Print only, not framed. Shipped via USPS standard 1st class mail.
