ARCADIA Old Ivory SET of 3 DINNER PLATES 9 3/4", Made in Syracuse, New York, USA, circa 1949-1960 DESCRIPTION: The beautiful and functional Old Ivory Arcadia pattern features garlands of pink roses, blue flowers and blue ribbons. Hanging from each ribbon is an ornament consisting of the pink roses. The rim and verge are trimmed in gold. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no rubbing, chips, nicks, hairlines, or repairs to this stunning set. See the condition in the photos. We have given a full, high resolution photo of the front of each plate. DIMENSIONS: The dinner plate has a diameter of 9 3/4" with a height of 9/16". HISTORY/MARK: With roots going back all the way to 1841, sixteen local businessmen purchased the struggling local pottery on July 20. 1871 renaming it to Onondaga Pottery Company (O.P.Co.) after Onondaga County where the company was located, and to celebrate the region's native Iroquois tribe, the Onondagas. It began producing fine china for which it found a strong market in hotels, restaurants and railroads. It closed in 2009 after 138 years in operation. The china backstamp included “Syracuse China” from 1895 even though the company name was not adopted until 1966. Old Ivory was used from 1927-1960 with the Arcadia pattern being produced 1949-1970.
