Description: Offered items – vintage, collectible Art Deco brass dog bookends on heavy green marble bases, original family ownership. CONDITION: VERY GOOD+. Recently professionally refurbished by a local jeweler with new base felts, the total four (4) screws have been tightened and/or replaced, and the marble completely polished. The bookends have a 4” x 4” marble base piece attached to a smaller (3” x 1.5”) marble pedestal piece. Both the base and pedestal pieces are attached by two (2) interior screws. Dimensions of each bookend: 4” Width; 4” Depth/Length; 4.25” Height. One (1) of the smaller marble pedestal pieces has a slight chip on its left bottom inside corner (book side). See photographs #4 & #9 for greater detail. There are no stains or discolorations of the marble on either piece. Likewise, both brass dogs have no stains, scratches, or blemishes. Their brass exbibits an attractive, antique patina. The owner’s parents acquired the bookends in the 1930’s or early 1940’s.
